This summer, the largest alternative summer camp in the city centre is once again ready to renew the artistic summer experience for children. With a refreshed programme, the Summer Art School at Lemon Art Studio brings a new approach to artistic education and experience to the city.
The Summer Art School is an eleven-week artistic summer programme. Each week is dedicated to a different art form, and all activities are fully connected to that week’s theme. Children learn techniques and experiment with examples drawn from the performing, visual, and applied arts. The daily programme includes familiarisation with the subject, thematic exploration through making, experiential play, experimentation, and activities such as drawing, acting, music, storytelling, singing, movement, film screenings, interactive videos, cooking, digital games, observation, development of visual perception, and of course a wide range of techniques and hands-on experience with equipment. Throughout the programme, outdoor activities also take place — visits to museums or to spaces that enrich the learning and experimentation process and connect with the week’s theme. Studios, galleries, museums, and artists’ workshops are among our destinations.
Activities are sometimes group-based, sometimes individual, and at other times all groups come together for collective creation and play. Activities are pitched at different levels of difficulty depending on the age group, and tools and equipment are adapted accordingly.
It starts on 15 June, with a short break in August, and runs until 10 September. The eleven themed weeks are self-contained — it is not necessary to attend all of them. A flexible programme is offered, allowing you to choose to attend all weeks or just some, as well as to select from five different morning and afternoon time slots.

Our educational tools are drawn from various pedagogical methods and educational approaches, applied to the art forms we explore each week. Our teaching approach is inspired by Montessori, Messy Play, Drama (in) Education, Kinesthetic Learning, Laban, NLP, and others — as well as, of course, children’s curiosity and imagination, nature and technology, emotions and empathy.
We place particular emphasis on play and experiential learning. This is why we cook, paint, dance, build, explore, question, observe, and step into new habits. Through these and many other processes, children’s bodies and minds learn new skills, are pushed to the edges of their development and beyond, acquire new behaviours, and evaluate new experiences from fresh perspectives. Furthermore, innovation and enthusiasm boost dopamine, creating feelings of wellbeing — happy, confident children.
The aim of the programme is to develop children’s fine motor skills as well as their emotional, cognitive, and psychomotor skills, and their broader perception of the world. Part of the educational process involves building self-esteem and appreciation for the group, developing individual judgement, respect for the environment, and an understanding of difference.
Mealtimes are very important to us. We all eat together, chat, get to know one another, and we wait for the last child to finish their meal before moving on to the next activity.
Twice a week the children cook — making their own bread, cakes, biscuits, and much more — in a way that connects the food to the art theme of that week. Camera-shaped cookies, cupcakes decorated with graffiti-style food colouring, rolls with sculptural designs, sweet breads with intricate weaving-style knots, and many other wonderful ideas brought to life.
The Summer Art School is aimed at preschool children, primary school children, and teenagers, with groups organised according to age.
The cost of participation is:
85€ for each week, in the basic hours
90€ for each week in the six-hour session
95€ for each week in the seven-hour session
100€ for each week in the eight-hour session
120€ for each week in the ten-hour session*
*The 10-hour option is not available for the Junior group.

- Registrations are accepted up to three days before the start of each week (by Friday) and are open throughout the summer, subject to availability.
- Registrations are weekly and cannot be split into individual days or hours.
- The chosen schedule is binding for the week.
- Late collection beyond the agreed schedule by more than 20 minutes will incur an additional charge of €10 per occurrence.
- In the event of cancellation, the amount paid is non-refundable.
- Breakfast, a mid-morning snack, and an afternoon snack with a drink are provided. For lunch, food brought from home can be stored in the fridge, heated, and served at lunchtime.
- Every Friday after 12:00, activities are open to parents — don’t hesitate to join in!
